Dear Glenn Family,
Thank you to all who were able to attend and participate in our GlennLOVES Town Hall and Engagement Fair last Sunday. We had nearly 175 members in attendance, not counting the children and the animals in the petting zoo! Seeing the Fellowship Hall so full and so energetic was an absolute thrill for me, and I’ve heard tremendous feedback from many of you.
We began the program with uplifting news from our SPRC Chair Mary Lou Greenwood Boice regarding our recent staff additions and the exciting announcement of our new senior pastor, Rev. Dr. Byron Thomas. Read more about him here.
Next, Carol Allums shared many of our Justice initiatives and the powerful impact we make outside of our Glenn walls through those efforts. Then, Susan Bell Morris briefed us on our solid financial foundation, and, with great transparency, some recent headwinds related to various costs and giving trends.
All of this was followed by the rollout of the GlennLOVES initiative and the many opportunities it provides us for growing our church through intentionally inviting and welcoming new members and re-engaging Glenn’s members who need to be reminded of where their passions align with offerings at Glenn. Read our GlennLOVES one-pager here.
As we discussed, GlennLOVES is a prioritized list of certain key areas of focus that we will pursue to grow Glenn Church. Those key areas include:
Welcoming and inviting others to become a part of Glenn;
Re-engaging and connecting with current members;
Maximizing our facilities as venues for attracting more life in our community; and,
Enhancing the financial sustainability of Glenn.
Each of these initiatives is led by enthusiastic church leaders and, thanks to the Town Hall and Engagement Fair, each is populated by volunteers who want to match their passions with these opportunities. These teams have lists of new ideas to refresh, adapt, and strengthen various Glenn activities. These ideas were compiled by our Church Council and came from many members’ inputs, and we will continue soliciting your input.
We need everyone at Glenn to be a part of GlennLOVES, through involvement in one of the four current initiatives. Please read more about GlennLOVES by clicking here and signing up to join a team!
It is our sincere hope that, during this season of reflection, each of us may find a new interest at Glenn or put our passions to work on many of the programs and activities offered through GlennLOVES and our ongoing programs and ministries. Together, let’s welcome and invite others, reengage and connect our members, and take other strides to help Glenn grow and thrive. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves and working side by side with each of you in this endeavor.
Sincerely,
Bill Clark
Church Council Chair
