Loving God. Loving Neighbor.
Whether you are new to Atlanta, new to church or looking for a new church home,
we’re glad you are considering Glenn Memorial. Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church is committed to loving God and loving neighbor with our whole selves - heart, mind, soul, and strength. As Jesus loved those around him, we believe that all persons are of sacred worth and dignity as part of God’s creation. We welcome all persons into the full life and ministry of our congregation, regardless of race, culture, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, family or socioeconomic status, education, politics, physical or mental ability, or faith history.
The mission of the Church is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world by proclaiming the good news of God’s grace and by exemplifying Jesus’ command to love God and neighbor, thus seeking the fulfillment of God’s reign and realm in the world. The fulfillment of God’s reign and realm in the world is the vision Scripture holds before us. The United Methodist Church affirms that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Savior of the world, and the Lord of all. As we make disciples, we respect persons of all religious faiths and we defend
religious freedom for all persons.

Directions and FAQs
Please join us! There’s a first time for everything, and questions are a normal and natural part of any new experience. The information below might be helpful to know before your first visit.
Where is Glenn?
Glenn Memorial Church is located in the historic Druid Hills neighborhood on Emory University’s campus, about seven miles northeast of downtown Atlanta. We are about three miles from downtown Decatur and about two miles from the Virginia Highlands neighborhood.
1660 N. Decatur Rd.
Atlanta, Georgia 30307
What time are services and where are they held?
We offer a small and intimate service at 8:30 a.m. in The Little Chapel located in the Church School Building, a larger traditional service at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary, and a casual, modern service called The Gathering at 5:00 p.m. in the Ward Fellowship Hall. All services are handicap accessible; our buildings offer ramp access and elevators.
Do I have to be a member to participate in worship?
Our services are open to everyone. All of God’s children are welcome to participate in our ministries and programs, receive the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Communion, and become members of the congregation.
Where should I park?
Since we are located on a university campus, our parking is a bit different. Ample parking is available at no charge in Emory’s Fishburne Parking Deck next to the Church School Building on weekdays after 5:00 p.m and all day on weekends. Parking is permitted along North Decatur Road on Sundays until 5:00 p.m. Spaces are also available behind our Youth and Activities Building across the street. Parking for guests with walking difficulties is located along the driveway between the Sanctuary and the Church School Building.
What else happens on Sundays?
We also offer numerous Sunday School classes and small groups for all ages and interests each Sunday at 9:45 a.m., as well as short-term groups and classes scheduled throughout the year.
What should I wear?
Come as you are. There’s no dress code at Glenn. You will see people in their Sunday best and those in more casual clothing. Wear what makes you comfortable.
What about my children?
Children are wanted and welcomed in all services at Glenn and children's bulletins are available in worship. During the COVID19 pandemic, Childcare Staff remain masked in the Nursery (2 and younger) and Toddlers through Kindergarten enjoy outdoor childcare on the playground as much as the weather permits, with masks required indoors for all ages 2 and older. If your infant or small child needs care during the service, there is a comfort room located downstairs at the back of the Sanctuary and rocking chairs available. We invite you to learn more about our children's ministries and our Child Protection Policy.
What if I haven’t been to church in a long time or never before?
Don’t let that keep you away. There was a first Sunday for all of us. An usher will give you a bulletin that outlines what happens during the service. Join in on the parts of the service you feel comfortable with, or just sit, watch and listen if you prefer.
What if I still have more questions?
That’s why we’re here. We’ll be happy to arrange a phone conversation with one of the pastors. Or perhaps you’d like to meet for breakfast, lunch, or a coffee break. Contact the church office at 404.634.3936 or if you’d prefer, email your question to the pastor of your choosing. We’re here to be helpful in any way we can!
