“He has told you, O mortal, what is good, and what does the Lord require of you
but to do justice and to love kindness and to walk humbly with your God?”
– Micah 6:8
The Justice Team at Glenn works to live into this calling from God by:
Educating ourselves and others about the root causes of injustice our society and how we as followers of Christ are to respond;
Advocating for systems that support people and working for change in the laws, policies and systems that create or maintain injustice; and
Creating personal connections by being present with people who are struggling and suffering in a way that affirms their humanity and dignity.
We organize our efforts around seven working groups: Racial Justice, LGBTQ+ Justice, Hunger and Housing Justice, Global Justice, Child Welfare, Environmental Justice, and Gun Violence Prevention, with each working group looking for ways to educate, advocate, and create personal connections in their particular area. Recent activities have included participating in the Pride Parade, convening an interfaith group to work together to advocate for gun safety, inviting Dr. Gary Mason to talk about rethinking conflict, hosting a talk back session about the Praise House and the history of the Black Church, and visiting the Legacy Museum and Lynching Memorial in Montgomery.
In addition, Glenn Church, through the work of the Justice Team, supports partners, both locally and abroad, that are also working in these areas. Globally, we provided over $30,000 in 2023 to support efforts to educate children in Africa, Cambodia, and Ecuador. Locally, we provide financial and hands-on support to organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Trinity Community Ministries, Intown Cares, Motherhood Beyond Bars, and Snack in a Backpack. Our contributions to our local partners in 2023 totaled over $40,000. Glenn volunteers offered their time and efforts to Habitat for Humanity, Intown Cares, Hope Atlanta, Trinity Table, Brannen Towers, Snack in a Backpack, Team Libertad, Lost-n-Found Youth, and Trinity House.
You can be a part of this work by joining one of our working groups, participating in one of our activities, and by supporting Glenn financially, so that we have the resources to we need to continue to work for justice.
