United Methodist Women
United Methodist Women is a national organization of approximately one million members. The purpose of the UMW is to develop a supportive and creative fellowship, foster spiritual growth, advocate for social justice, and expand concepts of missions through participation in the global ministries of the church. All together, the members of UMW raise nearly $25 million each year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.
Glenn Memorial has eight UMW “circles,” which are small groups of women who meet monthly for fellowship, study, prayer, and discussions. Quarterly the members of all the circles are invited to meet together for a business meeting and special speaker. United Methodist Women Circles welcome guests and prospective members to their meetings at all times. Are you a member of a UMW (United Methodist Women) Circle? If not, please consider joining! We have many options of time and interest.
Check your calendar and visit an upcoming meeting - contact the church office at 404.634.3936 or UMW President, Mary Lindsey Lewis for contact info. for any of the following Circle leaders:
Coming Soon: Women’s Brown Bag Book Club May 15th, 22nd, and 29th, 6:30pm in Room 401. Women at Glenn, have you ever read the Bible and scratched your head at the various ways that women and their roles are described? Don’t worry, you are not alone! Award winning writer and Christian blogger, Rachel Held Evans has written a whole new book all about it. So come and put your heads together with the Revs. Jessica and Susan for the Glenn Women’s Brown Bag Book Club. You and your friends are invited to bring yourselves, Rachel Held Evans’ book, The Year of Biblical Womanhood, and your dinner—but save plenty of room for discussion about what being a woman of faith means. For more info, contact Rev. Jessica Terrell at jessicat@glennumc.org; 404-634-3936. |
