Older Adults

Ministries for Older Adults at Glenn Memorial UMC include a wide range of fellowship, service, learning, and pastoral support. There’s no age minimum OR maximum for participation!  Retirement means something different for everyone, but wherever you find yourself as the years go by, there is a place for you with Older Adults of Glenn. Monthly opportunities include fellowship meals, interesting day trips around metro Atlanta, and pastoral care led by clergy and laity alike.

 

FriendShip Group - "Because we're all in the same boat."

Programs by, with, and for older adults.  Celebrating the lifetime voyage of faith, the FriendShip Fellowship offers various lunch programs and day trips.

 

T.N.T. (Tuesday Noon/Nights Together)
A monthly lunch or dinner gathering for fellowship and support.

 

Care Team
A simple phone call, a card in the mail, or a short visit to share God's love with those who may be homebound or lonely.  Our Pastoral Care Team has been sharing this love in the Glenn family for years and we now invite all ages to be a part of this meaningful ministry.  Care Team volunteers will be matched with one or two church members to stay in touch - simply by sharing a card, call, or visit.  For more info. and to volunteer, contact Carole Adams at caroleadams@bellsouth.net or 404-377-1504 or Rev. Caregivers Support Group
3rd Wednesday of each month, 4:30-5:30 pm in the Parlor
Are you a family caregiver of a loved one with memory loss, dementia, or Alzheimer's disease? Join us for a monthly support group of confidential encouragement and care. Glenn volunteers lead a short service of a devotional/sing-a-long/worship/Scripture reading/Prayers etc.  (any combination!) at Montclair Assisted Living of Clairmont Place Retirement Community (across from the VA) on the 1st/3rd Sundays of each month at 4:00pm.  The residents (approximately 5-25 in the dayroom) range in age from 75-100+ with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments.  Glenn’s own Alene Strickland and Jo DeSana are among those delighted to have us!  Feel free to sign up as individuals or a group. Music is optional, but preferred! You can play piano, bring a CD & stereo to play, or lead acappela or with another musical instrument.  Solos, duets, choirs welcome!"Supporters" are welcome each week to be a part of the congregation, as you may want to participate before leading a service.  For more info & to volunteer, contact Rev.
