Now is your chance to join dozens of Glenn Memorial UMC members and friends for a few quick hours of community service. On Saturday, September 7th, groups of people will set out from Glenn to a number of different service projects. Bring the kids and make it a family event!

HABITAT FOR HUMANITY:
Help build our annual Habitat house. Come ready to be out doors and in clothes that you don't mind getting dirty (we will be painting). Meet at the YAAB at 7:15am to carpool to the build site and expect to work until around 4pm. Must be at least 16 to volunteer.
CONFLUENCE PARK @ PEACHTREE CREEK:
Building green space access along the creek; clearing and rebuilding a rainwater collecting pond protecting the South Fork; helping restore simple steps leading to a scenic overlook; preparing a slope for planting native American Chestnut saplings. Start at 8:30 am at the cul de sac at end of Armand Road, zip code 30324 or meet at the YAAB at 7:45 to carpool with the Scouts. Plan to work till noon. Wear insect repellent, gloves and boots. Requires a short hike to reach the work site.
ATLANTA COMMUNITY FOOD BANK PRODUCT RESCUE CENTER:
Sort and pack donated goods at the Food Bank’s Product Rescue Center. A great chat-while-you-work activity! Families welcome: ages 8 and up. Meet in Ward Fellowship Hall at 8am. Shift is 9-noon and volunteers must wear closed toed shoes. (Limit 10 volunteers)
MEDSHARE (Morning): Sort and pack donated Medical Supplies that get shipped all over the world. Families welcome: ages 8 and up. Meet in Ward Fellowship Hall at 8am. Shift is from 9am to noon. (Limit 25 volunteers)
INTOWN FOOD PANTRY EXPRESS PACKS and HOME DELIVERY (early shift):
Sort, pack, and deliver donated food. Make Express packs for later Pantry shift. Glenn is a partner congregation with ICM. Families welcome:  recommended ages 8 and up. Meet in Ward Fellowship Hall at 8am and be done in time for lunch.
RUTLEDGE PARK:
Hard-scape final touches, invasive plant removal, and lots of plantings are the order of the day. Wear insect repellent & old but sturdy shoes to this outdoor effort!  Kids welcome. Be at the YAAB at 8:30am and we will walk over to the park (on Ridgewood) together! Work at Rutledge Park starts at 9am and we will finish at 4pm- flexible,shorter shifts available. 
INTOWN FOOD PANTRY(late-morning shift):
Sort, pack, and give out donated food. Glenn is a partner congregation with ICM. Families welcome: recommended ages 8 and up. Meet in Ward Fellowship Hall at 10am and finish by 1pm.
SANDWICH MAKING:
To prepare a noontime feast for our skaters and Habitat crew, we will need folks to donate food or an hour or so of their Saturday morning to make sandwiches. Sandwich assembly will start about 9 am in the YAAB.
SKATING in the YAAB:
For those who really enjoy just rolling along, Glenn members of all ages will work with Action Ministry to host a group of Atlanta children/teens for a few trips around the rink and lunch. We’ll need both supervisors and skaters from 10:00a.m to 2pm. Meet at the YAAB. Kids are welcome!
JERUSELUM HOUSE:

Jerusalem House is Atlanta’s oldest and largest provider of permanent housing for Atlanta’s low-income and homeless individuals and families affected by HIV/AIDS. We will host a Family Fun Day with a variety of games and a lunch time BBQ at the Emory Village location of Jerusalem House. This is an adult only event and all volunteers MUST sign up by September 1st- THIS PROJECT WILL BE AN RSVP EVENT AND WILL NOT ALLOW WALK-IN PARTICIPANTS. Contact Donna Toulme, project coordinator, for more information.

KIT ASSEMBLY:
Help put together care bags for parents at Egleston and/or new home kits for The Living Room starting at 11:00am in Ward Fellowship Hall. Bring the kids!

CANVASING for ATLANTA AIDS WALK:
Join our partners at THE LIVING ROOM and hang up posters advertising the AIDS Walk at local businesses. Flexible shifts available to fit your schedule. Meet briefly in the Glenn Ward Hall for an orientation before being sent out.
 
LOVE OUR NEIGHBORS LETTERS and ART:
We’ll learn more about the missionaries we support and some fellow church members. Let’s reconnect with our friends serving the church far and wide. 11:00 a.m. In Ward Fellowship Hall. Kids can draw pictures! Know some one who needs mail- Click here to submit a name and address and we will include them on our list.

ARTS and CRAFTS and GAMES at BRANAN TOWERS:
Come be creative with the residents at Branan, one of the Wesley Communities for the elderly (located in East Atlanta). All ages welcome. Come to the Ward Fellowship Hall at 1:15pm. We will hang out at Branan from 2-4pm
A.G. RHODES at WESLEY WOODS:
No musical experience is required for this sing-along visit with the residents. Babies and small children as well as their parents are always a hit at this project. Participants will meet at the A.G. Rhodes Center (Wesley Woods at Emory) at 2:15 and finish up by 4pm.
